Adam holds the following qualifications
The UK’s Mountain Instructor Award (MIA)
This qualification allows Adam to work on any crag/rock environment in the UK (except winter/snow). This award allows Adam to teach simple sessions for rock climbing to any clients at simple venues to advanced work with rescue systems and lead coach climbing in multipitch settings.
The UK’s Winter Mountain Leader Award (WML)
This award allows Adam to work in the winter environment in the UK mountains, introducing people to the use of crampons and ice axes and dealing with snow and ice conditions.
The BCU Level 5 Award (Inland) A5
Adam is qualified to the highest standard within the BCU system. Able to work in any advanced whitewater setting from a kayak, Adam has been kayaking for over twelve years and has a huge wealth of experience on rivers worldwide. Kayaking is Adams real passion and nothing more pleases him than running a steep creek or a huge slide. Adam is known for his coaching abilities within kayaking and in 2008 featured in the BBC’s Outdoor series with Kate Silverton. As an A5 Adam is also a trainer and assessor of the BCU’s highest performance award the 5*.
Adam also holds a position on the BCU’s White Water Technical Committee.

The BCU Level 4 Award (Sea Kayak)
Adam is qualified to work in any advanced coastal environment. Adam has been sea kayaking for over 10 years and has a huge wealth of experience on the UK’s coastal waters as well as having paddled in New Zealand and South America. Adam qualified through the various levels of the BCU and can often be found exploring and working in the harsh tidal environments of North Wales and Anglesey.

The BCU Level 4 Award (Open Canoe)
Adam is qualified to work in any advanced environment from an open canoe. Adam has paddled open canoes for over 10 years and feels it is a beautiful way to journey through such wilderness. The Open Canoe is the worlds most versatile craft in the world and loves playing in one, on and around the water, whether its paddling, poling, tracking, lining and even portaging his boat.
Rescue Emergency Care (REC) First Aid award
As an outdoor professional Adam feels it is hugely important to stay current with the modern approach to first aid. He currently holds a 16hr outdoor specific award, and recently also held the wilderness first aid award from Lifesystems and IV specific modules. He has also been awarded the HSE 4 day FA award too.
Rescue 3 Swiftwater Rescue Technician Level 2
Adam qualified with rescue 3 during his work in Norway as a Level 2 swiftwater technician. Adams awarding means he can deal with many an emergency as well as planned specific swiftwater rescue training. Adam has also undergone serious training with moving water through the BCU avenues and also whilst working as a raft guide.
